The more decks used, the larger of an advantage the dealer has over the players. This is due to the increased difficulty for a player to count cards. Do not deposit real money into your player’s account until you can verify that the casino’s rules are visible at all times and fair to players. Splitting cards can also at least double your potential winnings from the same initial hand dealt. Highly skilled players will assess their card values versus the card showing in the dealer’s hand to determine when splitting cards is the wise play.
With a double down, you will be dealt one additional card only. If your first two cards have the same numerical value, you may split them into two hands. The bet on the second hand must equal the original bet. If the split pair is Aces, you are limited to a one-card draw on each hand. If you are closer to 21 than the dealer, you win and are paid an amount equal to your original wager. If the dealer’s hand “busts” or “breaks,” you win as well.
If all players bust, the dealer wins without further play. With a count of 16 or less, the dealer draws cards one at a time until there is a count of 17 or more. A dealer who busts loses; otherwise, the dealer pays anyone showing a higher count , and a push occurs for players with a matching total. All cards are collected and taken out of play before the next hand is dealt.
It is assumed to have the value that makes the best hand, and that may change as more cards are added to the hand. The rules of modern Blackjack came together in the French game Vingt-un (or Vingt-et-un ‘21’) in the middle of the 18th century. Enthusiasts promoting the game in France in the late 1700s and early 1800s included Madame Du Barry and Napoleon Bonaparte. If both the dealer and player bust, the player loses. The player wants to continue they must make another “Draw” bet equal in size to “Ante” bet and now has the option of discarding and drawing one additional card.
